Thomas and Marianne Dicht
The beautiful free-range stable of Marianne and Thomas Dicht is situated above the village with a wonderful view of the Prättigau valley. In 1998 Thomas Dicht took over the farm from his parents, which had been a boyhood dream for him. Independence, working in and with nature, dealing with animals and yet still having time for his family are still powerful arguments for this time-intensive profession. Suckler cows are kept on the Dicht organic farm, with the animals being cross-bred in such a way that mid-sized, precocious cows are on the farm. In addition to the heredity of the meat, the cow should also give milk so that the calves are well looked after on the alpine pastures, because they are not satisfied with grass alone. Thus, the pretty, colourful bunch of Angus, Pinzgau, Simmental and Rhaetian grey cattle includes 22 cows and 18 calves, providing the coveted Natura Beef. Part of it is sold commercially, the rest is self-marketed. Here too, the family can rely on a loyal network of customers; slaughtering takes place whenever there is demand. And this demand is constant and also large, Natura Beef is very popular. In addition to the cattle, around 160 laying hens scratch happily around the old barn. They supply a loyal regular clientele with fresh eggs every week. On request, the eggs are delivered to the customer’s home.
